One Dream – One People – One Voice

The date 20 July 2024 marks 50 years of forcible and illegal island division in Cyprus - by Turks and Turkish Cypriots in the Northern occupied Cyprus. There is no freedom of movement or choice between the North and the South of Cyprus. So far, efforts for a solution by the Cypriot Government have proved unsuccessful. It is time for the world to speak out in favour of a just and fair solution to the Cyprus problem. 50 years is just too much!

The basis for a solution to the Cyprus problem is to reunify the whole of Cyprus as one nation in a just and fair way.

Facilitation of displaced Cypriots to return back to their ancestral homes

The immediate removal of all Turkish troops from northern Cyprus.

Cyprus must remain a unified state where all of its citizens: Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, Maronites, Armenians and Latinos would live harmoniously in a peaceful and prosperous Cyprus within the wider European family. The key to a just and fair settlement in Cyprus lies in each one of us and all of us as a whole.

Origin of Island’s Name

Two interpretations of the origin of the island’s name Kypros (Cyprus):

(a) Kypros owes its name to Kypris.  Kypris is the name given to Aphrodite, the Goddess of Cyprus; and

(b) from copper that was discovered in Cyprus during the Copper period (2500 BC – 1050 BC).
